Roger WORROD (Wuzzy) > Centrepiece... well, not really, as it's very close to the road in a nice-looking park to the East of Mao's photo and the official 'welcome'.

Roger WORROD (Wuzzy) > Chinese Moslem Supper. Just 50 metres away from the Red Wall Hotel, this was my favourite meal in Beijing. Chinese Moslem owners, poor as church mice, they were the ones who turned over one of their two rooms to a Christian Iranian refugee family who had been living on the streets... the father had finally received a permit to travel to Sweden where the family hoped to start a new life. In my travel diary I talked a lot about the warmth and kindness of the Chinese family, who welcomed me back like an old friend when I came through Beijing in April on my way home.
Roger WORROD (Wuzzy) > The mother and one of her children, who all helped serving, cleaning, clearing away. Their charcoal grill was installed in the open front window, although Beijing was under 6 inches of snow and the wind was quite icy. No matter how many kebabs I ordered and paid for, they would invariably bring me at least another plateful and a beer... 'on the house'. And they refused to accept a tip.
